It's been two weeks since my last hike and boy did I feel it. I'm feeling like an old animal when it comes to hiking... you know, when you occasionally have a good hike and think all is well. Not today. But I got 'er done. I did do lots of walking when I was in San Antonio. This week I did a 'hood walk yesterday and three workouts (definitely sore from those), but it didn't seem to help the hiking, sheesh!

My hike started out by smelling the roses :) , literally. The house's garden where I parked, the roses were blooming. Next up was a hummingbird above the trail that looked like it had two different colors, yellow and purplish. A mesquite tree was full of those velvet blooms. I changed my planned route and hiked my little quarter western loop and then around Lookout in a clockwise fashion to the western saddle and heading around northside. Lots of folks out this morning. Chatted with one gentleman who said he hikes it twice a week and comes from Glendale because he likes it so much.

And sad news to report, Q-Trip doesn't have the frozen capuccionos anymore :lone: . I had to resort to a frappe from their kitchen. It was good, but I don't want to wait for them to make it. I just want to pour and go.

WATCH: 3.16 miles, 8:49-10AM burning 504 calories, 1473-1719 elevation. 138 avg bpm/159 max: 25% zone 4 (149-167 bpm) anaerobic, 49% zone 3 (131-148bpm) aerobic, 24% zone 2 (112-130 bpm) weight control.

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
