The area is a LOT nicer than last time we were here, with so much more green, although there are still a lot of burned dead trees along the way. There were wildflowers along the trail almost the entire way. The pine smell was invigorating. Very windy at the top - Gen needed a jacket, and almost lost a hat. There was nobody in the fire tower. We spent a lot of time at the cabin and at the peak enjoying the views, then headed down. The sunset was heavenly, and a large rainbow appeared briefly. We encountered some bowhunters 1 mile from the trailhead, then 2 minutes later saw a deer. Reached the car at 1900, 5 minutes before sunset. Beautiful day. A lot of people along the trail, including a group of about 25 children. No trash, which was nice. My torn Achilles tendon is doing better - about 85% healed now. |
