| partners | | Linda was looking for something away from the furnace and that would fit into her busy schedule.
I had done variations of this loop a few times before and thought it would fit the bill. A beautiful 58 degrees to start, with clear blue skies, birds chirping, and the sound of wood a chippin' in the distance. We would later hike past the crew that was cleaning up slash pines from the recent thinning in the area.
At Jones Crossing, we made the turn south, heading upstream. We tried to keep our feet dry at first but eventually gave up and walked in the water. It was easy walking for the most part, and the loop clicked off pretty quickly. We stopped at the cave, and shortly after, we startled a rafter of turkeys.
We climbed up and out of East Clear Creek via a side canyon with a human-made trail. We finished in plenty of time to get Linda home comfortably at 78 degrees.
I'm not sure what happened after that, but Linda pulled over to the side of the road on the way home and forced me out of the truck. I was left alone and scared. Luckily, I was at the upper trailhead for the Pine Canyon Trail and just walked home with my tail between my legs.
I guess I had a good time. |
