Lots ot huckleberries, which I snacked on as I hiked. Had the trail to myself all the way up to the summit, where a family of four was just leaving.
As always, great views from the summit of N Chilco. I could see the Sunset Fire burning a few miles to the north, on the eastern slopes of Blacktail/Butler Mtn, towards Talache. Smoke was light, but still there. Yesterday’s weather probably helped though. Almost chilly up top, with the breeze and a sweaty shirt.
Dropped off the south side of the summit on the use trail. Once below the talus, there were tons of huckleberries. Once back on the main trail, I headed back north and all the way down. Saw one more couple and their not so friendly dog. 62 degrees at the finish. |
