Wanted to hike up here as there are five geocaches along the rim trail that I wanted to find. Parked at the base of Walker Lake Cinder Cone near the closed road sign. At one point you could've driven to the rim, but the forest service doesn't want people to do that anymore. Hiked up along the mountain and reached the rim trail. This trail is not marked on the maps, but follows the rim of Walter Lake Cinder Cone. Hiked along counter-clock wise finding geocaches as I went. At the northern edge of the rim is the highest point, 8910'. I found a summit log, though it looks new as there was only one other signature before mine on 9/10/25. Continued along the rim and made my way into the bowl. Walker Lake, though it seems to be more like a tank. There's some water in it and it seems to be popular with deer and such. Continued back down to my truck following the closed road. Easy and enjoyable hike in all.
