| no partners | | I went out to the Rock Creek Trail to make sure Chumley’s pics from last weekend were real. His pics were indeed real and the conditions out in the Mazzies right now are still pretty superb due to some nice September rain.
The drive in was a little sloppy in spots, but much drier on the way out. There were a couple of additional washes running and it was apparent from our first crossing that the creek levels were similar to those of last weekend. We had actually hiked a mile along Rock Creek last weekend, but did not get up there earlier enough to commit to anything beyond that, due to having the pups with us. This time we arrived much earlier and to much cloudier and cooler temps. We did not really see the sun until off it came out off and on the last couple of miles on our return. It was 72 degrees when we finished. The falls were flowing nicely and the dogs really enjoyed a deep pool just up trail and above the falls. We got some light rain during the beginning and some lighter rain for a short period during our descent. The trail is in excellent shape. We ran into a solo hiker right before reaching the trailhead. |
