| no partners | | I decided to do this hike for the second time, with the first time being almost 5 years ago.
The hike was much tougher than I remember it being.
The first part of the hike was a long trek up a very rocky and bouldery wash. This section culminated at a saddle down below the peak.
From there it is a steep climb up a rocky Ridgeline -- this was all class 3 with possibly some class 4 mixed in. The ridgeline then makes a right hand turn that goes to the summit. At least the elevation gain lessens once you make this turn.
The reward for getting to the top is some amazing views.
After hanging out at the top for a bit we made our descent, which I thought was as tough or perhaps even tougher than the ascent. I thought that we'd be home free once we made it to the saddle, but the descent down the wash was the worst part of the hike to me.
There is a lot of intense scrambling on this one, and I don't think that I will do it for a 3rd time. |
