Opted for Mt Ord with Janelle. Got started around sunrise and headed uphill from Slate Creek, which had no visible water. Uneventful hike up. Saw a lot of dried deer prints in the road. One toppled tree to skirt around at about the 2 mile mark. Oddly, a large geocache at about 3.5-4 miles, just sitting on the side of the road, full of junk and money. Saw some guys camping on the side of the road shortly above the intersection.

The road had some snow/ice starting about 1.5-2 miles from the summit. Generally easy to negotiate, but there were a few slippery spots. Above the closed gate, there was one long stretch of snow. Very windy all day. We sheltered next to one of the buildings at the summit and had a quick snack.

The descent was easy, with a few careful steps on the ice. Saw four other hikers on our way back down. Good workout.
