Denny suggested this loop. WE started early to cool temps and shade. The sun showed up as we topped out on Black Mesa. The weather seemed right for snakes to be sunning but no luck. We did see a gila monster just before 9am. That's right about the time I usually see them in the spring. Denny's aim was off and he couldn't find the monster on his camera. I've been there. One talkative backpacker seen but there were several cars in the lot. Thanks for the hike turtle.
