I would like to suggest a name for peak 3209 -- "Baby cat". Because it's near Cat and Little Cat, and it's about 120 feet lower than Little Cat.
I started at the Sunset pass (North) trail on the North side of Ajo rd. I took that for roughly 0.5 miles to a trail junction and turned left on the Explorer trail, then took that another 2/3 miles to a saddle. From this saddle you can access peak 3209 and 3059. Peak 3059 is close to this saddle without much elevation elevation change and only took me a few minutes. At the top I didn't see a registry and decided to save my jar for 3209 not knowing if there would be a registry there.
To get to Peak 3209, I returned to the saddle and starting heading Northeast on a use trail which was on the North side of the ridgeline. There were a few splits on this use trail and I kept going up toward the ridgeline, but there were some areas where the ridgeline was very rocky so I stayed below it. Eventually I got on the very top of the ridgeline before the first false summit. The first false summit was a rocky bulge that involved hiking down to a small saddle and then continuing up to the summit. There was nothing here over class 2. It's only about 0.4 miles from where you exit the Explorer trail to the summit.
Along the way up, on the lower part of the ridgeline, I saw a large saguaro with an arm that extended out and down to about 6 feet above the ground. There was a flower that bloomed at the end of the arm and it looked like that cactus was trying to reach out and give me a flower ;-). I'll be ready for the saguaro fruit in a couple of months.
At the summit, there are some nice views of Cat mountain and Little Cat mtn in the distance. I found 2 possible high points, checked carefully for a registry and did not find anything so I left a jar here, signing my name and Michael A who hiked before me. Seems like this peak doesn't get visited often but it's fairly easy to get to.
I took a similar route down and back to the trailhead.
