It was such a nice day that I went out and did a loop on Elden. Up the lookout trail over to the small burn area from July, across the Sunset to the Heart and down the Heart and back on the Christmas Tree to the Fatman's Loop. I guess today was probably not very welcome at lower elevation since it was a lot warmer than normal, but today up here was great. Change is coming with cold and wind, and it was really great to get out and do something in such fantastic late season weather. It felt more like June, and the dry dusty trail conditions made it look like June as well. The color is really coming along. In a few more days most of the aspens on Elden might be bare.
