Bob talked(bribed) a few of us into doing the cactus to clouds hike with him. I'm glad I did it! This was quite a challenge for me. The first few hours we hiked in the dark so I'm sure we missed some of the nice scenery. I wouldn't want to do that in the heat though. Once we could see, we were treated with an awesome sunrise. From there we hit one of the steep parts. There were some giant pine cones that were really cool and some nice rock formations. From there Wally and I wen't up to the ranger station to get the permit and wait for the other three. We got our meeting spot a lttle mixed up but were hikng the top section within the hour. I was lucky enough to have extra clothing and had soaked two shirts with sweat already and was on my third at this point. I didn't think i would sweat so much in this cool weather. :o I think we were all pretty tired at this point but decided to try and finish. It was a pretty area and help take your mind off of being so wore out. About two miles in to the top section, Berk said he had enough fun and would wait for us there. Now he has a reason to come back with Bob on the next one. We were in the snowy section now and it was pretty cool. We were afraid this was going to be icy but it wasn't. Wally and Joe went ahead and peaked out first and Bob and I peaked out a little while later. It felt awesome to make it to the top and just have the five downhill miles left. The views were awesome too! There were a lot more people on the top part then I thought there would be.Bob gave Joe a headstart down to the tram then flew down to get there about the same time. Wally stayed back with me and we meet the three of them at the tram about fifteen minutes sfter they got there. We were on the tram and down the mountain within a half hour. The ride down was cool. We caught a taxi back to the car and headed home. With a couple pit stops we made it back in just a few minutes shy of 24 hours of the time we left. What an awesome trip. Thanks to Bob for driving there and back.Nice to hike with Berk for the first time and Bob,Joe,And Wally a pleasure as always!
