Took a weekend to hike the AZ trail section from Patagonia north. This is the 'temporal gulch'
section. The trail is in the Santa Rita's. It starts near
Hwy 82 , take FR 72 to walker basin trailhead or park earlier 4mi in on 72 which I did.
The trail follows FR72 then climbs a saddle near Mt Wrightston
peaking at 7k ft then goes back down to the valley via Casa Blanca canyon.
The views are great up at the saddle. I saw an illegal and gave him my energy bars
as he said he had no food. Passed a camp fire that seemed to be hastily abandoned with
a burning stump nearly catching the grass on fire ! Crazy dangerous. Bear spring
has a full tank of water. Would like to head up the trail to the wrightston peak
at the saddle when it gets warmer.
