Well this is it. The end of my journey from north to south. It is a bitter/sweet as it feels like a nice accomplishment to complete it, however I was really enjoying the ride and am sorry it is over.

The Mantis was instrumental with my setup on this on. He met me in the morning at Montezuma Pass and we drove together to Parker Canyon Lake. From there I would begin the last leg of the Arizona Trail and he would take my vehicle back to the parking lot at Montezuma Pass. Thank you so much for the assist and it was great to finally meet you in person!

Along the way I would encounter several drug smugglers and illegals who all wanted to gun me down. Oh wait, that didn't happen but I did see a few deer and a bunch of beautiful birds.

When JohnLP and I did this before going south to north we talked about doing Miller Peak or Carr Peak but we didn't have time that day. On this trip I would visit both Peaks as side excursions. I haven't been to Carr Peak before so that was cool. The balloon that always floats over the Huachuca's seemed so close it felt like I could reach out and grab it.

Miller Peak was Great as well but it was a little breezy up there. I could see Mt. Wrightson off in the distance and it was calling my name. Sky Islands were the theme this trip down to the southern part of the state.

Along the way I also passed Shawn Garber and her husband. She has been hiking the trail for 76 days to raise money for MS. That was really cool meeting them. Today (11/29) was her big finish! A HUGE Congratulations goes out to her.

Once down to the parking lot at Montezuma Pass I continued to the finish line at the border. I really dig the view of Mexico from this vantage point. It is serene with rolling hills and mountains in the distance. After hitting the monument I would hike back up the hill and then I decided to go on up to Coronado Peak as well for one last look. Beautiful I tell ya!

Back at the parking lot Shawn and her husband had a friend (think chase vehicle) waiting for them. We chatted for a bit and then they came down the Crest Trail. There were lots of smiles and I could see how great she felt to be so near the finish line. We said our goodbyes and I headed off into the sunset to go eat some tacos in Sierra Vista. Perfect ending to an amazing journey.

Now that I have completed the trail both directions I hope to contribute to the Arizona Trail in any way I can. I will also likely be doing the sections in the future as they evolve. Who knows I may just do the whole thing again sometime? I think the GET is the next one on the radar.

As before I want to extend my sincerest thanks to everyone that helped make this possible for me. The logistics are challenging and without you I couldn't have done it. Muchas Gracias!
