Started from the Javelina TH at 6am in the dark along the Javelina Canyon Trail to Mormon, then to the National. About a half mile past the junction with Corona de Loma Trail I turned around. On the way back I took the National where I had hiked the Javelina Canyon trail on the way out. Took the Ridgeline Trail until the last climb where I saw a connecting trail to Javelina Canyon that I never hiked before.
It was pretty chilly when I started but warmed up once the sun hit. It seemed kind of really warm in the last part of the National Trail, but along the Ridgeline the breezes cooled me off.
Early morning hike at SoMo. Did a short loop involving Ridgeline and Javelina. Got started around 6am. Needed a flashlight at the start. Quite different from a few days ago when cloud coverage reflected back all the light I needed (from the city). Few hikers on the trail. No wildlife
mid morning workout hike
got some sprinkles on the way down javelina canyon
thunder to the north
finished at a good time, 15 minutes later wouldn't have been much fun
reentry hike to harvester benchmark from beverly
got going around 0800
there was a lot of MOISTure in the air
quite a few hikers and mountain bikers out on this holiday weekday
good hike, nice weather
Cool and breezy mid-morning start. Lots of erosion from the rains, but also a lot of new plant growth and flowers appearing. Early for wildflowers. Should be a good year especially if we get some more rain before the ground dries out. Brittlebush and creosote blooming as well.
Only saw three mountain bikers. Rare since the pandemic.
Good day.
Morning hike at SoMo. Started from Javelina TH. Ridgeline to Pima Wash and then use trails back to the TH. Temps were nice, air quality not. No wildlife. Encountered 18 hikers a 1 runner.
