The GPS coordinates are fairly accurate. A signal was difficult to maintain in some spots, but if you are patient, you should pick one up.
Finding the campsite trail: The trail was fairly easy to "find". Once you are past the 100 yard stretch that requires you to get wet, hike on for about 20 minutes as suggested. Next, you will notice a smooth rock "slope" to your right that leads up to what is becoming a bluff. This is the spot to walk up and find the trail. It starts out fairly visible but tends to dissappear in some spots. We had to bushwack for a majority of the trail as it is unmaintained. However, once we found the campsite, we found an easier, shorter trail down to the creek which accessed a couple of deeper pools.
Overall, a decent place to camp. It is about 50-60 feet off the canyon floor, and the trail is dangerously close to the edge at times, be careful. |
