Harem hike (Carey, Dan, Yolanda) to the Hotshots Memorial this morning. Got to the trailhead about 8:30 or so. 2 parking spots available. Light traffic on the trail. Cold and crazy windy on both sides of the mountain.

Met up with four of the Estrella Trailblazers for a hike on FINS trails this morning. Nice cool start and some early cloud cover to keep the sun off our backs. Saw two other hikers and no bikers. Dropped some stuffed animals off at the Enchanted Forest on Spent Spade trail.

Took a sunset spin around Lucero trails tonight with my neighbor Craig. Started from Ladero Park and made our way up to Copper State Crosscut, the counter clockwise to Nitro Knoll, Sidewinder, Lower Recluse, Scorpion, Upper Recluse, Tarantula down, Coyote Creek, Tarantula Up, Black Widow, Thrasher, Coyote Creek, and Copper State Cross Cut to finish the loop. Chatted a bit with one other biker on the saddle at Recluse/Tarantula/Black Widow intersection.

Led a mountain bike ride on FINS trails this morning with my buddy Marc and some of his east valley friends (Jason, Jeff, Ray, and Mike). They were very accommodating of my selection of black diamond trails which provided for lots of climbing opportunities. Great group of riders, kept it tight, no crashes, no mechanical breakdowns, no drama, awesomesauce! Saw lots of other hikers and bikers out on the FINS trails this morning.

Took the fat tire bike out for a spin. Started in FINS, took Maricopa trail over to Estrella Foothills Community Park, fence line 2 track out to the EMRP Iron Ranger, GNODS connector over to GNODS, Big Kahuna Loop and Footprints out to Estrella Parkway and Willis then neighborhoods back to home. Saw 1 hiker on FINS trails and 1 hiker and 3 bikers on GNODS trails. Loads of community members wandering around with their dogs and riding their road bikes in the neighborhoods.

Took the mountain bike for a spin on north Pirate trails in Estrella Mountain Ranch this morning. Started from behind Walgreen's, crossed Estrella Parkway and made my way to What UP trail, down Coyote, Pirate's Cove and clockwise on 1UP back to Pirate's Cove, Scallywag, back on What UP to Hook UP, clockwise on Beam Me UP, Saddle UP, UPper Pass, Round UP the short way to UPside Down shortcut, back on Saddle UP to Estrella Parkway, through the tunnel to the Tunnel trail, Cottontail to the Cotton road roundabout, Estrella Parkway back to Walgreens. Saw 3 hikers and 1 mountain biker all on Saddle UP trail. Trails are in good condition.

Went for a brunch ride across the street at FINS this morning. Met up with fellow retiree and MTB'r Steve near the Westar entrance and we joined forces for a ride. Did a clockwise loop around the perimeter with Steve and then hit some more trails on my way back home. Definitely feeling the heat by the end of the ride.

Joined the Estrella Mountain Warriors hiking group (Nina, Vicki, and John) for a hike on north Pirate trails in Estrella Mountain Ranch. Parked at the staging area at Sendero drive and Estrella Parkway (east of the traffic signal). Hiked clockwise on Round Up trail, Upside Down, Upper Pass, Saddle Up, Beam Me Up, back on Saddle Up to the parking area. Started cool, sun warmed us up for a bit, then the clouds and wind came in and cooled us back down. We kept a good pace going for the hike with minimal stops.

Lots of rain last night. Decided to take the fat bike out for a sand ride. Started from Estrella Foothills Community Park and took the sandy two track fence line out to the EMRP Iron Ranger, Crossover trail, Pedersen to Corgett Wash, east all the way back to Pedersen, clockwise on Pedersen back to Crossover, Park Ave and Sunrise back to Estrella Foothills Park.

Got out for a lunch ride on the fat bike today. Started in FINS across the street, Maricopa trail towards Dogbone, desert two track and farm roads to Germann and Rainbow Valley roads east to Avondale Ave north to EMRP fence line, followed the fence line west and north to Pedersen access road west to the power line, northwest to Sunrise/Maricopa trail back to FINS and home. Saw a trail runner and mountain biker on FINS trails and got passed by a sedan/jalopy on Germann on their way to shoot guns. There was already a Jeep Gladiator parked at the big dirt pile shooting away. Always makes me nervous being in proximity of desert shooters.

Late start fat bike adventure ride starting from Estrella Foothills Community Park. Started on the sandy two track fence line trail that runs you over to the EMRP Iron Ranger. I haven't memorized my new Maricopa Park Pass number yet, so I had to unpack my phone to check the picture I took of the pass. It's good to have that information on your person in case you get stopped by a ranger, which has never once happened to me after all these years. Took the Crossover trail to Pedersen, counter clockwise over to Homestead Wash, managed to follow the wash all the way back to Pedersen with some hike a bike, Pedersen back to Gadsden, back again to Pedersen to Crossover, Jolly Roger, Park Ave, Sunrise back to Foothills Community Park. Saw 11 bikers and one hiker. Sand continues to accumulate on the trails.

Did a rehab hike with my PA friend Tricia. Met in the 55th Ave and Pinnacle Peak parking lot and selected a space not covered in fresh broken glass. Tricia and I did a counter clockwise loop on Coach Whip and Arrowhead Point trails. No shortage of new hiking friends sharing the trails. Weather was perfect!

Met up with my buddy Dan for a road bike ride out of Rio Vista Community Park. Leaving the park we headed north on New River Trail all the way up to Jomax, then east and south through neighborhoods over to 55th Ave down to Skunk Creek, returning to New River trail and Rio Vista Park. Lots of traffic on New river trail up to about Happy Valley Road.

I was suffering from a mild case of activity deficiency this morning so I snuck across the street for a quick loop on FINS trails. Went commando style with no backpack, no water, no hiking poles and jogged for a short distance here and there. Perfect weather. Saw one neighbor walking her big bushy husky on the power line road on my way out.

Fat bike ride with some of my fat bike friends (Marc, Jeff, John) in the slot canyons of Mud Flats near Alamo Lake. The Mud Flats lie on a combination of State Trust Land and BLM. Fun times! Saw some wild burros upon returning to the dispersed camping area.
