After hiking the Superstition Ridgeline yesterday, I was having some doubts about doing this the next day-- my knees were pretty sore. Luckily I passed out really early and felt great when I woke up. Rachel was also coming along so I wasn't going to cancel and I'm so glad I didn't.
I've hiked Barnhardt a couple times and have always liked it quite a bit but this is the first time I'm done this hike with water flowing-- and it was flowing today! There were waterfalls and deep pools everywhere we looked. It was totally amazing.
We made it all the way to Chilson Camp and looked around for a while and then returned. This was my first time to Chilson and I remember last year running into a couple backpackers on Barnhardt who had told me they tried to camp at Chilson the night before. They had found the Brody Seep trail but couldn't find the camp. The trail goes right through it. I can't figure out what their mistake was.
I recommend that if anyone has any plans on doing this hike-- do it now. Its amazing! |
