| no partners | | Rustler Park suffered significant damage during this summer's Horseshoe II Fire in the Chiricahua Mountains. The campground remains closed to entry, but the Crest Trail which skirts it is open. I had hoped to walk through the campground to take some pictures, but signs made it clear they don't want you in there right now. Also there was a ranger there watching. I hiked a short ways up the Crest Trail to see if I could catch a glimpse of the meadow, but it was only faintly visible through the trees. I don't know the status of the historic guard station structures on the south side of the campground. Perhaps they were saved.
