| no partners | | With the three hottest days of the summer (July 23-25: highs at my house 112,114,113) looming, I decided to head for the Chiricahua Mountains with the idea to camp out two nights at Rustler Park. There was one other camper there, but after looking around and being disappointed by the condition of the campground, I opted to head down to Sunny Flat by Portal instead. I knew that meant it would be hotter, but I thought there might be a chance of at least some weather activity to take the edge off. (High pressure was overhead and really baking us, but when the monsoon is in shutdown mode such as this, the one place that usually has a chance of some clouds/showers is this area). It was not to be.
Stayed pretty warm at Sunny Flat, so after one night I threw in the towel and headed back to the Tucson Blast Furnace.
In retrospect, I probably should have stayed up in spooky Rustler Park, but the place just has lost its charm. |
