Realizing my alarm hadn't gone off, I jumped into my truck and hauled pumpkin down to Phoenix. It was a bad start to what would thankfully become a great day.

John, Jake and I rolled into Peralta Trailhead, where we soon met Kat (snakemarks). A flip of a coin and we chose Bluff Spring Trail to begin our loop on. Every little drainage had flowing water as we made our way to Bluff Spring itself.

Next up was the Ely-Anderson Trail. This historic trail had joined my wish list after reading about it as a teenager. We quickly reached the open mountain top of Bluff, and rambled toward the true summit through grass and cacti. The scenic summit of Bluff Springs Mountain with its 360 degree views made for a great lunch break, before dropping down the west ridge of the mountain to the Terrapin Trail below.

After a short journey south on Terrapin, we turned west onto Weaver's Needle Crosscut. The three of us climbed up, over, and down, through a wonderland of hoodoo rocks before starting on the last leg of our trip: Peralta.

Following the Peralta Trail south, we ran into Pam and Van at Fremont Saddle, who were on a Robbers Roost hike. We chatted for a bit then continued down to Peralta Trailhead, passing a number of other hikers along the way.

Arriving back at our rendezvous point in Apache Junction, we went our separate ways. I decided to grab some dinner at Juan Jaime's Tacos and Tequila. I'm very glad I did.

Thanks John and Jake for a fun hike. :) It was nice to meet you Kat, Pam, and Van!
