Parked at the end of Squaw Pk Drive and took the west trail up to the saddle where I discovered my pedometer missing, Did a retreat about halfway down to the parking lot and found the pedo in the middle of trail. Detour led to a shorter hike than planned. Like a Midwest autumn day. Cloudy, cool, breeze stirring palo verde limbs. Caught an OK shot of a Loggerhead Shrike, with the black mask going across the base of the bill, unlike the Northern. Got as far north as the Briggs Bench, then started back. Saw 10 hikers, 2 joggers and a biker. Came down on east trail, making a loop. Parking lot absolutely full when I got back near sunset. Must be overflow from Piestewa.
