| no partners | | | This was less a hike than a moving photo session, and an extremely slow one at that. Great evening for photography, not that I shot anything worthwhile. Overcast with no bright sun to contend with. Found very few on the trail despite an unusually-nice summer evening with temps in upper 80s. Left the TH at end of Squaw Pk Dr just before 6 going up the west trail and forgetting how quickly now the sun sets, 7:04 by my GPS. Not wanting to come down the steeper east trail in the dark, I did the "saddle shortcut" trail for the first time, an unexciting contour on high around on north side. After eight months of using GPS I still have trouble figuring the AEG. The "Total Ascent" using View Map for this trip was 394' and 246' under the Elevation Plot. I assume the higher figure is right. |
