| no partners | | This was my first time at the Brown's Ranch area and it was nice experience!
I got to the TH right before the gates opened.
As soon as I started hiking, I saw a pack of about 10 deer run through the park.
I did a big loop of the area.
I took the following trails:
-Hackamore
-Latigo
-Dixileta
-Whiskey Bottle
-Monument
-136 street express
-Dove Valley
-Cow Poke
-Granite mtn loop
-Balanced Rock
-Branding Iron
-Cholla Mtn loop
-Corral
-Upper Ranch
-Cone Mtn
Within the big loop, I also did a smaller loop of Granite mountain. It sprinkled on me for about 10 minutes.
On the northern side of the area, there are the old ATV trails. They still have the older carbonate sign posts. It looks like you can hike to pretty far north from here.
The City of Scottsdale haven't finished installing all of the new sign posts on the northern side of the area. What they've done in the meantime is put stickers on the carbonate posts pointing the way.
If your new to the area, a trail pamphlet is recommenced. There are a lot of trails/intersections in this area.
After my loop within a loop, I checked out the Brown's ranch road trail and part of the powerline trail. I didn't have enough time to make it to peak. I guess that will be next time.
This is a really nice area. It popular with the mountain bikers. I'll bring my son here during the winter months. |
