In brief:
TH: 0842
LaBarge Creek bottom: 0956
Box: 1042
Depart Box: 1120
LaBarge Creek bottom: 1229
TH: 1348
Perfect conditions; 45F and still air at the TH. Warmed up gradually around noon. Not much water running in LaBarge but all of the big pools are still there. Good trail down to LaBarge from the TH, then some cairns but mostly rock hopping in the creek bottom up to the Box. Decent trail up over the little saddle south of Battleship and back down to Boulder Creek. No problem following any of it. Battleship and Geronimo Head both very impressive. The sheer cliffs in the S-curve of the Box are also. Very vertical stuff. Some places appear as if you could drop a stone over the edge from the top and have it fall clear for several hundred feet. Did not go too far into the Box since I was hiking alone, and safety first. Saved something for next time. |
