Enjoyed clear weather and mild temperatures for a climb of Brown's Brother. Times are approximate. Got to the Lone Pine TH just before 7:00AM. No other cars in the lot. Took the route up over the top of Brown's. Got to Brown's summit around 9:00 and took a quick break. The route over to Brother took the crack that begins about 100 feet E of the summit, then down for a hundred feet. Things began to look cliffy so I traversed W one crack over and took that down to the big slab that extends E from the saddle. From there you can see what appears to be a line or shallow crack running due S in the big slab in which there are 3 or 4 small pine trees spaced at 50 - 100yd intervals. I followed this S to where there appeared to be access to the cliff bands. Worked my way up a couple of levels of rock to the exit point where there is a big snag. That was my mental way-point for the return (I don't like GPS, just a Luddite I guess). From there I worked up to the edge and then due S along a pretty well defined knife edge with big drops to the W. Really enjoyed that part. Very cool. Then up to the summit. I have read that the 2 - 1 traverse should take about half an hour. It took me almost 2 hours to get to Brother, but only 1 hour to get back, being more familiar with the route. I am sure that moving my very fastest and after I had done it several times I still could not do that in 30 minutes. No way. Had bizarre cloud cover blowing up over the summits while up there. Very dramatic. At some times it would white out and I could not see more than 20 feet. Gave me some tense moments in route finding but it all came out well. Found the snag for the exit to the cliff bands and down-climbed, then back up over Brown's and down to Lone Pine. Got back to the TH around 2:00PM. Not many entries in the summit log on Brother. They are pretty much all from Mother Lode climbs. I am eating the elephant one bite at a time. Brushy, cliffy, and tough, but loved it! Had a few moments where I thought I could get killed if I made a mistake, but there was always a somewhat safer option to take if I just took a little more time. I am going back for more!
