Have not ridden my bike in six weeks, and Sunday is supposed to be ride day, so I rode along the Arizona Canal from Sunnyslope out to 67th Ave. Lots of water in the flood control channel and, where it turns to a grassy wash around 51st Ave., lots of water there too. Many huge carp downstream from the control dam just west of 29th Ave. Rode by some rough looking characters fishing -- I did not look too closely -- just west of 43rd Ave. One of them said "Hello, sir" as I rode by. Odd, but I said hello back. I stopped about a hundred yards further on to photograph some graffiti. I hear a whistle, several times, and turn to see one of the rough characters walking towards me, wanting to say something. Oooookay. Hop back on bike, wave, and bail with a quickness. Just another day on the Homeless Highway ... |
