With my Daughter and her family still in Minnesota winter escape mode, I thought Scott and the two boys might like a hike up Siphon Draw to burn off some excess energy and enjoy the sights. Our hike began at the Mining Camp Restaurant at 0800 as we got into our gear and made sure there was plenty of water along. Once on the trail, Scott spotted an animal off in the distance that finally was determined to be a Coyote standing on a large boulder, surveying its pickings among the homes nested below.

The Minnesota contingent was doing quite well hiking up the continuous upgrade with occasional pauses to view the surroundings and check out the Flat Iron high above us. There were a few other hikers on the trail, some passed us, others we passed so not too bad overall.

Once in the "Slickrock" area it was time to remove the gear, whatever excess layers remained and then play on the steep, slippery slopes of the rock's surface. The boys thought this was really cool 8) but they weren't ready to continue on to the Flat Iron today [-( So I told them that the next time they came to visit, we were going on to the top :o

The trip down was another lesson in hiking in the Superstitions, initially they thought it would be a "piece of cake" coming down, but soon found out that the loose stones turn into ball bearings and can give em a pretty good ride if not careful. The trails were now filling up with hikers heading up trail and the temps were heading up as well so it felt good to be ending this before it got warmer. Everyone was glad to finally remove the packs, stow the hiking poles and get into a comfortable car for the ride home.

Welcome to the Superstitions guys : rambo : let me know when you're ready to do it again :y:

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.
