Thursday's are the day I Work the Peralta Trailhead for the Forest Service so I was there bright and early around 0630. Got the rest rooms and the parking lot cleaned within an hour and no visitors showing up so I geared up, grabbed my brush trimming tool and headed up to Fremont Saddle.

High clouds kept the sun at bay so it was a pleasant 2.4 mile hike and not another sole to be seen or heard the whole way. Thanks to the recent rains, there's the magical sounds of running water in several places along the trail and the normally dry pools are now full. I made good time up to the saddle so I removed my pack, set down the brush cutters, grabbed my camera and played around the Hoodoos on the West side of the saddle.

Still can't hear anyone on the trails so I decided to head out on the Cave Trail to Geronimo's Cave to see how the trails are following the rains on Saturday. The Hedgehog Cactus are finally blooming so it was a welcome relief to stop and get some photos of the delicate blossoms.

At the alcove below the cave, the visitors are getting creative with the construction of the rock cairns. It seems that bigger is better is the rule now, last time I was here, it was the staggering number of them. I climbed around the area for a while and found out that my boots are too slippery (worn out treads) so I didn't continue on to Bluff Spring Trail but instead turned around and went back and connected with the Peralta Trail.

Got back to the trailhead just past noon and found the parking lot was almost full now, seems like everyone was getting a later start now. Sat on the tailgate and had a quick lunch as the visitors streamed back to the parking lot and headed home leaving me mostly alone again so I decided to call it quits for the day at 1:00.

The sun's rising earlier, the days are getting longer, the temps are rising....yep, the snakes are on the move again.
