| no partners | | The weather service was predicting clouds for today and I wanted to get some photos of a tree along the Cave Trail, under clouds, so I got up early enough to reach Peralta TH before sunrise and began my hike to Fremont Saddle. There was a nice breeze blowing so I thought I'd see if I could break my personal best time of 1hr, 5min to the Saddle, and don't ya know..... 1hr and 3min was the best I could do.
Removed some layers at the saddle and got on the Cave Trail under high clouds that blocked the sun and left only peeks of distant blue skys. When I arrived at my subject tree, it just wasn't the clouds I was hoping for so I ran off a bunch of shots to see what worked best with the background.
My left knee was kinda sore after my "sprint" to the saddle so I was favoring it hoping it would get better, but I was still determined to make the loop around to Bluff Spring Trail. By the time I finished the Cave Trail, and got onto the Bluff Spring Trail my knee had improved but Cardiac Hill fixed that
The sun was out in full force by the time I reached the Trailhead and I was sweating pretty good so I sat and talked with Joe, the Forest Service Volunteer, who was working the Trailhead today. The gnats were really nasty under that shade tree, but it was the only shade around, so we just swatted at em to keep em from landing on skin.
After I was rested and had replenished my lost fluids, I finished stowing my gear and left Joe to his duties. The knee'll get better after a couple of cold brewski's |

Wildflowers Observation None Found some pretty pink and blue flowers, don't know what they are though.
Occotillo are blooming good but not much leaf cover on the thorny shafts.
The Agave are sending their trunks skyward, no flowers yet. |
