Joined Tom's Sawyers for a day on the trail. We drove down along the powerline from the top of the mountain to clear the road, then hiked the Aspen Loop. The word was that there was one big one 0.1 mile down the Aspen from the Aspen/Marshal junction. We found it, 25 inch diameter and requiring two cuts. Having 6 people meant the saw didn't stop, we paired off and each pair did 100 strokes, then turned it over to the next pair. Still, we spent probably an hour on that one log. Hikers coming past said there were more, which we found. Most were pretty good size and some where hanging up in adjoining trees. We finished up around 2:30, had a great lunch at the Sawmill in Summerhaven, and headed home. A great day on the trails!
