Had a free day in Tucson, so naturally I headed to Mt Lemmon. :) We didn't finish this loop last time so I wanted to come back and finish it. The drive up the Catalina Highway was awesome...much less traffic than last time we were here. Thunderstorms were threatening the whole way. Getting close to Summerhaven the highway was obscured by clouds and we were actually inside some dark storm clouds, but somehow it didn't rain on us at all. Only a few cars in the parking lot when we got to Marshall Gulch.

We went clockwise through the loop. Thankfully the weather was nice and cool today with all the cloud cover. Some good climbing at the start of the Aspen Trail, and the steady climbing continues for more than a mile. The trail is extremely lush and overgrown in some areas. Nice views of the Tucson valley before you head north and connect with the Marshall Gulch Trail. The Marshall Gulch Trail is just beautiful, and is even more lush and green than it was when I was here in March. Good amount of water in the creek, but not really any more than my last trip here. I would've thought there'd be even more water after all the recent rains. This whole area has a ton of wildflowers right now.

Got back to Marshall Gulch and nearly had the place to ourselves. Had a picnic and enjoyed the amazing weather before heading back down the mountain. We wanted to do another short hike up here today but unfortunately didn't have the time. Driving back down it finally started to rain.
