It's not impassable by any means, but if your trying to hike with 2 toddlers, its quite the chore. We took the Aspen Trail and only got 0.6 miles in before we decided it would be best to turn back. Every group we ran into coming the other way kept talking about how much worse the trail would get up ahead. We kept trying to push thru but after almost 2 hours and going barely over a half mile, it seemed best to cut our losses and turn back. One group said the Marshall Gulch Trail was much better but at least 3 other groups of people said it was almost as bad as the Aspen Trail. One guy we saw on our way back said he did the lower part of Marshall Gulch previously and it was fine. My son was miserable most of the hike but my daughter kind of got into it after a while (the downhill portion after we decided to turn back helped out a lot with this).
The hiking time listed is the actual moving time as given by my GPS. actual full length time was almost 4 hours. The new GPS rocks, btw. |
