I started out at Castle Rock Regional Recreation Area on the Castle Rock Trail which turns into the Stage Road Trail when it enters Mount Diablo State Park, then up to the South Gate Road on the Barbecue Terrace Trail.
It looks like a lot of wildlife has made it through the obscene dryness of a California summer, even in this abnormally dry year. I saw 10 deer, a lot of birds, and even more lizards though they were very camera-shy. I guess the lizards that linger didn't make it.
Pine Creek was bone-dry, and I've never seen it like that, but I haven't been here in at least of year. |
