A cool 62 at the start and a chilly 52 at the end - courtesy of the hail storm!

We hadn't done this loop since fall '06 - almost the same date. There were a few nice colors and the best were in the East Fork Horton Creek.

A lot less people on Horton trail than we anticipated. We saw a small garter snake in the morning, got rain after lunch for about 20 minutes and then 20 minutes of hail coming down Derrick. Ouch!

The rerouting of Derrick trail makes it a much easier descent than the old rocky washed out trail that I seem to remember. Very nice trail work!

Stopped at Beeline Cafe on the way back :)
