After yesterdays spectacular hike in the Mazys I decided to stay up near Payson and do some more hiking today. I love the Horton-Derrick Loop so I parked the Jeep up near Tonto Creek and stayed the night. This morning I hit the trails around 9am.

It's hard to believe but I never saw another hiker the whole trip. There were however some trail workers as they are rerouting both the Horton Trail and the Derrick Trail. As I was going up Horton I heard a chain saw and was stopped shortly thereafter. A huge Pine came down where the new trail will be. Turns out it was a good looking girl handling that chain saw! :y:

Total highlight of the hike!

The spring was gushing and there was a bit of snow still on the ground just past it. I will go back and check out the new route in a month or two.
