I hadn't been through See Canyon before, so when JJ suggested this hike and said the Eagle would be attending, I was in. Dave1 decided to join us last second as well.

Temps were comfortable through most of the hike though it was a bit humid. Had a good sweat going climbing the Promontory trail up to the rim. See Canyon was nice and green. Lots of columbines, ferns, and strawberries! A little early for raspberries though.

Once I reached the See Spring trail intersection, I saw a hiker coming towards me with two white dogs. I introduced myself to Lee (friendofThundergod) and met the pups Blanco and Cupcake. After a short deliberation Lee decided to join us for the remainder of the hike. Blanco and Cup are experienced around people and other dogs. They take everything in stride. Very well behaved. Nice job with them Lee.

The Highline from See to Derrick is in great shape. The last few miles before getting to Horton Spring were warm and mostly uphill. I think we all just wanted to get there where we knew it would be cool and relaxing. I was about out of water and the dogs needed a cool down.

Horton was awesome as usual. Only a few people there when we arrived and they soon departed leaving us the whole area to ourselves. I drank 1.5 liters out of the spring to rehydrate. Everyone enjoyed the spring and creek and a break.

Soon the clouds started rolling in providing welcome shade. Then thunder and light rain making the final leg back the the JJ mobile quite comfortable. The rain picked up the last mile or so. We got back to the parking lot just as we were starting to get wet. Perfect timing.

We loaded everybody up, drove Lee and the dogs back to their vehicle in See Canyon, then we all met in Payson for Del Taco and Dairy Queen. Excellent day!

Thanks to John for driving and being his normal generous self. Nice to finally meet Lee, Cup, and Blanco. Always good to hike with Bruce and Dave as well. Good times :)
