| no partners | | She asked for backpacking for Valentines. Under the stars has become a thing for the holiday each year.
I asked lazy or not. She chose not, 2 nights, and secluded.
Managed to leave town around 1pm Friday. Started on the trail at 3pm.
I thought Chilson camp possibly for first night. Somebody picked us a better camp just before the flashlights needed to come out.
We only saw 2 people on the first day who were hiking out.
Day 2, we saw no one. We explored a bit with packs and then stashed them and took the big boys' posted route into Deadman. The waterflow was no March o'14 but it was good for desert finds. The hike straight out was easier than I expected. 30min got us from the bottom to back on the trail. We hiked back to the drainage, gathered our stuffs and then headed back to the top of Deadman.
I thought Horse Camp possibly for second night. It started to get dark and that trail looked to me to be gone. Somebody picked us a better camp just before the flashlights needed to come out. We camped at the top of the falls. It was beautiful.
We had something scheduled Sunday night, so we got back on the trail semi-early and hiked the 9.3mi out. At Big Kahuna we started seeing traffic and it was plentiful. It included a group of 8-9 tweenish barely neon covered things that kept forgetting mini-water bottle trash in between selfies. 9 of you and nobody knows how to take a picture for somebody else? Maybe pink phones only come with forward facing cameras I dunno.
Good trip. She was happy and I was happy. We saw 2 deer a day. |
