Boxed into a tight frame of time, I drove over to the closest park to my house and did a figure-8 loop from the 7th Ave TH. Picked a good time to start out too, at 1845. Walked for the most part in shade, temps between 100-106. Not bad. Disappointed to see no ironwood blooms deeper in the park. The pink-and-white flowers I saw a week ago on one tree near the VC apparently did not get the word out to the brothers. The quail I've seen for a while are running in pairs, no coveys. How many birds make a covey, I don't know. Generally, from what I've read, it's four or more. Counted nine hikers on the trails after sunset at 1939. Got back in twilight at 2000.
