| no partners | | first time doing this peak. Started off at a great pace but hit my wall the last 3/4 mile or so to the peaks. Ah well, still a great hike. Spent some time at first peak taking pics and a 360 degree video, same at the flag peak, also made an entry in log, killed some time enjoying view and snacking. Great views, only bad was ferocious gnats at top. Was hot by time I got back down at noon - must start getting up early for Saturday morning hikes now that our nice cool month of May is ending.
Only met one couple and a single man on their way down as I was going up.
My gps route is fouled with several straight lines because I used phone too much at start and end. Simply doubled the official 3.2 miles for my return trip.
ETA in case others read this, for your education:
1. would have been better to continue down north side and make a pan handle loop - several routes saved by others show that
2. after posting noticed one older log that gave this link which mentions that State trust permits required. I did not see any State signs at start nor along trail, so I'm uncertain. |
