Beautiful area and beautiful weather! I have always wanted to hike this mountain and finally got around to it!
Not too far from my house and trail was easy to access; although you must park in a neighborhood, just be responsible.
The hike goes along a jeep trail for a mile or two before heading up the mountain, a good way to warm up. The trail then loops around and then up the mountain. There, you find the summit and a pretty ridge to walk on as you visit a couple of other peaks. There is an American flag and some chairs on the other peak as well as a summit register. I met 3 friendly ladies up there who shared their snacks with me and a couple others who hiked up from their house in the neighborhood. Also a couple motorcycles trying to get to the top of the mountain. Couldn't do that in Phoenix!
I'll have to check out nearby Gavilan Peak someday. All in all, a great hike!
