| no partners | | In the continuing Griswold adventure mode, we made our way down to DC for 3 day side trip from Pittsburgh. First day was a 5 mile hike around the Mall. I start HAZTRKS as soon as we got off the Metro and turned it off on our way to the food court when we were done. I'm sure we walked at least another mile on our way to and from the metro and our hotel, but I'm only counting the official walk around the Mall.
We started east of the Washington Monument, made our way to the WWII memorial, north of the reflecting pond to the Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War, MLK, and Jefferson. Total time was close to 3 hours, including time stopping at each memorial to take pictures. We were all very tired at the end of the walk. Hit a nice Mexican place at the food court in L'Enfant Plaza, the kids each ate their whole quesadillas with no help. Made it back to the hotel to rest up, post pics, and get ready for Day 2 at the Smithsonian tomorrow. |
