Early to rise this morning. Up at 4:15am to start the day. I brought along my nephew, Marco. On the trail at 5:15am. Still pretty dark outside, but not enough to bother with headlamps. Came across my first desert tortoise in the wild. Very cool find. Marco was quite pleased with our unexpected discovery.

I could tell that a nice sunrise was forming just over the ridge by praying hands. I hustled up the mountain not wanting to miss the prime photo op. Got it, just in time.

We continued on past Praying Hands to a favorite destination of mine then returned the way we came. The desert tortoise was still in his same spot. Waiting to start his day, I guess.

This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee.
