| no partners | | | Camping in Auger Canyon. No trip to the falls this weekend. Instead tackled the mountain directly south of our property. Started at 8000 feet and climbed to the summit at just over 9500. All off trail. Just started walking towards the peak as it got steeper and steeper. I wanted to grab onto trees to assist my ascent and descent, but they are all crispy and black from the Wallow Fire. Very rocky as I approached the top. Thick young aspen coming in above 9000 feet. Some are already over 10 feet tall. On average, the aspen stands are about 4 - 5 feet. Some are already starting to turn yellow. |
