It was a great day to hit Horton Creek. Took the young man along since this is his favorite place. He did very well. It got warm quick this a.m. but we took frequent stops to snack, hydrate and swim. Rested at 3 bigger swimming holes and spent about 30mins at each. At the 2nd swimming hole I wandered up stream a ways and hid behind a tree to see what he would do. Sure enough, he busted out his little compass/whistle and started blowing until he saw me again. There are tons of butterflies right now. Stopped at the blackberry patch to fill up a plastic jar we brought along. Berry season at Horton is in full swing, which might explain all the bear scat on the trail. Only saw 4 other hikers which was nice, all were very friendly. Never get tired of this place.
