Since Friday afternoon we had spent enough time staring at this area from our campsite behind Battle Axe Butte, it was to be a fitting last hike of our shortened weekend. We could see the remains of an old mining road heading right to it so figured there may be a mine to check out.

No such luck... we found absolutely no sign of any mining, only a large alcove. By the number of animal tracks it was obvious this area received a lot of traffic, we just wouldn't see any. The only items of note were three very low, haphazard man-made rock walls. Due to how unstable this area is I seriously doubt it was used for anything but a very temporary camp.

Like the three other hikes this weekend, it also provided great views of Battle Axe.
