| no partners | | These rainy days have been getting me down so yesterday I drove out along First Water Road, hoping to get to the Massacre Falls. The time was around 11:00 am, overcast, rain, wind.... everything but snow I walked to the wash, it was wet but no water flowing, and then it started raining for real... so I scrapped the plan.
Early this morning, I looked up to the sky and could see stars so I got my stuff ready and headed out.... again. I started for Massacre Falls at 06:30 am and had to use a flashlight to see the rocks and mud puddles but no one else was on the trails (DUH!) The clear sky's soon gave way to overcast and a light rain forced me to put on my rain coat. Once past the Chinaman's Hat, the brush gets heavier and wetter and soon I was drenched.... wondering "What the Pumpkin am I doing here"?
As I finally reached the cliffs, I could hear the falls and then saw the falls back below a cloud shrouded Mountain, amidst the Hoodoo's. I made it to the falls, the light rain stopped and I had the place all to myself so I just took all the photos I wanted without anyone to get in the way. There were peeks of blue sky between the clouds but the rains were just being patient until I began my trek back. After all the hikes to Massacre Falls, I finally made it when the falls were flowing...
Almost back to the parking lot, I met two girls heading up the trail, one girl said she was up at the falls yesterday.... could that have been JJ's hiking partner?
