| partners | | Spent most of the day at CCRP - even pushed through nap which is very unusual for the four of us. We all take 2 hour naps on Saturday and Sunday - which sounds insane but it's so good for your brain/heart. And keeps us from being whiney or cranky or snarky in late afternoon.
Started at the visitor center and found a good butterfly ID book and an in depth book of mammalian predators of arizona (wolf, two foxes, coyotes, bear, mountain lion, bobcat). Brad got all into the predator book. Then we waited for a while to see if the desert tortoise would come out of his den - of course he did not. Seems pretty easy to escape to the kids. They were fascinated that he couldn't get out.
Hiked Overton clockwise and had lunch at the benches just before Go John return loop. Then set up "camp" for a few hours at the super awesome playground. I have wanted to take the tender chickens to this playground for years! Pre-conception even! I remembered the saguaro but not the scorpion slide! And lion climbing feature and spider web. Kids played intensely for about 3 hours straight. Food and water breaks. I sat at picnic table and did my annual christmas journal of our past years' events. Brad intended to read medical journals but I think he really just read the predator book.
We packed up around 4:30 and got to El Encanto early enough to get a table right away. Kids fed the ducks and then watched iPad at one end of a 6 person table while Brad and I sat at the other end. I'm sure strangers thought we were neglectful. It's called parenting survival!
