| no partners | | Was invited by friends to hike Tom's Thumb Sunday morning while I was hiking Tom's Thumb Saturday night! How could I say no? I love Tom! We started at 7:30am and no rush - enjoyed company - stopped to talk some - went to the Thumb and back down.
My original plan was to change in to church clothes after hike and meet Brad and kids there. Church is really close to TT trailhead. We talked about it before I left. Neither one of us remembered that my car was still at shop. Oops!
I put in a photo showing a part of TT trail that had acute on chronic erosion after the rain to the point that the walkable part of trail was 8 inches wide (seen Saturday night) and the drop off to the side arroyo was pretty scary. I texted photos of the trail conditions to City personnel on Saturday night. That's a fun perk of being MSC patrol steward. She wrote back and got GPS coordinates and was going to send someone out Sunday to eval.
Well Sunday I went by same spot at 7:45 am (trail opened at 7:02am) and it was ALREADY repaired!!! Amazing! Found out later through the MSC Patrol facebook page that it was another steward who is part of Construction and Maintenance volunteer crew - and he did it himself!! And he repaired 4 rock slides on East End. All by himself. Pretty darn awesome group of volunteers in MSC. Gave the City more time to repair the big slide on Andrews-Kinsey today instead. |
