| partners | | Babysitter date hike night. First day after rain, MSC needed trail info for ruts, slides, damage. So we went to Tom's Thumb north and went up to East End intersection and back down. Light was PHENOMENAL as it always is just before sunset. Finished hike at 5:36 pm. Sunset was 5:30 so pretty darn good staying within law of the land. Brad says it's a victimless crime - but it's not. All the crepuscular animals need to hunt around dusk and we interfere with their ability to get dinner. I've done hikes after sunset in McDowells plenty of times before - but since becoming a steward has changed my perspective.
Went to a new place for dinner - Lamp Pizza off Pinnacle Peak road. Had appetizers and desert and two drinks. The two drinks part messed up the whole plan to go get my car. But I couldn't stomach the idea of a date night with only one drink. Just ain't right.
Pretty crappy time to East End: 39 minutes. Sad. Wasn't trying super hard. But is 10 minutes slower than my best time ever and seems like new normal for me. |
